Words you may need to know

 

Centenier - this is an honorary Police person appointed by the Parish who works with the paid States Police. They have certain legal powers such as the power to charge and present cases before the Magistrate’s Court.

Driving Unlicensed - driving without having a valid driving licence

Failing to surrender revoked licence - not handing in a licence that has been cancelled

Failing to comply with provisional conditions - a provisional licence is given out to provide the user with the ability to take lessons under instruction. There are some things (Conditions) you can and cannot do while using it. If you do not use it correctly you are breaking the law.

Disqualified - Prevented from holding a licence. Not allowed

Endorsement- when a licence is endorsed, a statement or conditions are put on it

Disclose - tell

Forgery or possession - having or holding a fake document

False statement - a lie

Procure or invalidate a licence - get or make not legal

Reckless - being aware of the risk but doing it anyway

Prescribed - laid down rule or regulation

Tethering - tying down

Pillion passenger- a passenger who is alongside or behind the driver

Tampering - touching or interfering with

Prohibition - if something is prohibited, it is not allowed

Comply - carry out

Unroadworthy - not considered to meet the standards of a vehicle on the roads
