Royal British Legion - Jersey Branch

Extent: Jersey
Updated 19 August 2019
---------------------------------------------------

The Legion is here in Jersey to help members of the Royal Navy, British Army, Royal Air Force, veterans and their immediate families. And we’re here to stay.

From providing expert advice and guidance, to recovery and rehabilitation, through to transitioning to civilian life – we can be by your side every step of the way. It is not just members of the Armed Forces but immediate families who are also included.

The branch is open from 8.30 to 12.00 Monday to Friday at Legion House 2-4 Great Union Street St Helier. We support serving, ex-serving personnel and their immediate families all year round, every day of the week. Contact can also be made through e-mail at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or via our securely monitored answerphone/telephone 723469.

The Committee meets at 6pm every last Thursday in the month with the exception of June, July, and August.

Our support starts after seven days of service and continues through life, long after service is over.

If there is ever a reason we can't help, our vast network will mean that we know someone who can.

We provide free confidential welfare advice, financial, social and emotional care and support to all serving and veteran military personnel, including their immediate families, who are resident in Jersey.

There is a varied database of welfare organisations, who will provide independent help and advice, enabling both serving and veteran military personnel (and their immediate families), who are resident in Jersey, the ability to access this valuable resource without cost.

The Royal British Legion is the UK's leading Armed Forces charity and one of its largest membership organisations. Members get together through the network of branches and clubs all over the country and overseas to participate in social, fundraising and welfare activities.

Membership is open to everyone. If you have an interest in the objectives of the Legion and want to help and support those who have served and their immediate families, come and join us. We welcome men and women of all ages, whether they have served in the Armed Forces or not.

Legion membership ensures that:

  • Remembrance is kept alive and that the sacrifices our brave Service men and women have made are never forgotten.
  • The ex-Service community have a voice and that their concerns are brought to the public eye.

Becoming a member also provides the opportunity to get involved in a wide range of activities and events held locally, regionally and nationally throughout the year.

The Legion is also the national Custodian of Remembrance and safeguards the Military Covenant between the nation and its Armed Forces and is best known for the annual Poppy Appeal and its emblem the red poppy.

Founded in 1921, the Legion is not just about those who fought in the two World Wars of the last century, but also about those involved in the many conflicts since 1945 and those still fighting for the freedom we enjoy today.
