Holder – here, the person given the IDP

Issued - given out by

In advance - beforehand

Applicants - the person applying for the IDP

Motor vehicle, car, caravan, van etc

International Driving Permits (IDPs) are issued by the Parish Halls. The cost is £10.

An IDP is accepted in different countries and usually allows the holder to drive a private motor vehicle without having to do anything different in the country you are travelling in.

An IDP cannot be issued more than 3 months in advance.

Applicants have to be over 18 years of age and hold a valid full licence.

There are two types of IDP:  a 1994 Convention IDP will normally be given but for certain countries a 1926 Convention IDP is necessary. State which countries you need the IDP for when applying.

An IDP lasts for 12 months from the date of issue.

To get an International Driving Permit, you should take one passport type photograph, your driving licence, a completed application form and £10 to your Parish Hall.
