Chiropractice

Extent: Jersey
Updated 11 November 2013
---------------------------------------------------

1 In the UK there is a statutory body which was established by the Chiropractors Act 1994 to regulate the practice. It is called the General Chiropractic Council GCC], and a register was opened on 15 June 1999 for any person describing her/himself as any kind of chiropractor to register within a two year period. After 14 June 2001 it is a criminal offence to describe oneself as a chiropractor without being registered.

2 Jersey does not have the same law in place but a chiropractor in Jersey has to be registered under the Health Care [Registration] Law 1995, and it is an offence to practice in Jersey without being registered. Most chiropractors are registered with health scheme providers such as BUPA.
