Autistic - a person or child affected by, or caused by, autism - failure to use language and understand surroundings in the expected way
Mainstream – usual; conventional; something thought of as normal and shared by most people eg mainstream banking
Schooling
Children diagnosed with an Autistic Spectrum Disorder are mainly supported in a mainstream school by specialist keyworkers.
If a child requires further support, they may attend one of the Additionally Resourced Centres (ARCs) located in the following schools:
Primary
Rouge Bouillon
St Saviours
Secondary
Grainville
Haute Vallee
The Education Department’s Autism and Social Communication Inclusion Team (ASCIT) also work with schools and families to support children in their education.

Children who are diagnosed with a severe Autistic Spectrum Disorder may be educated at Mont a l’Abbe School.
