A death has to be certified and registered within five days ( See 8.45.12.L7) so a doctor will have to be called to provide the death certificate.

If the death is sudden, contact the person's GP (if known) or the Ambulance Service and Police (if unknown or a visitor).  Victim Support can offer help if it is required, (telephone 440496), or The General Hospital  will put you in touch with someone who can provide bereavement support in the event of sudden death or following a post-mortem.  Any local funeral director who is instructed will make all the necessary funeral and other arrangements.
