Speech and language therapy

Health and Community Services Speech and Language Therapy Department

The Speech and Language Therapy Service is part of the Community Health Service and based at the William Knott Centre at Overdale.

Therapists work with children and adults with speech, language difficulties as well as feeding and swallowing problems. Referrals open but majority of referrals are from clinics and family doctors, health visitors and hospital consultants. Individual and group therapy sessions are held at Communicare, schools, nurseries, hospitals and the Poplars Day Centre. Patients are also treated on the wards of the General and Overdale Hospitals. Adults with learning difficulties are also treated at Le Geyt Centre and other work venues.
