Interpreters in hospital

The General Hospital relies on a team of volunteer interpreters who help patients and medical staff whenever there is a language difficulty in the Outpatients Department, or on the wards.

The interpreters sign a declaration of confidentiality to ensure privacy for the patient. The service is co-ordinated by Nicola de Jesus, Language & Communication Liaison Officer,  telephone 442044. Messages can be left on the answerphone in any language.

Languages available include:

German, Swedish, Portuguese, Polish, French, Finnish, Spanish, Italian, Norwegian and Dutch
